Copper is an important non-ferrous metal. It is playing a vital role in the national economic building. Nowdays, China has become the leading country of copper consumption in the world, but the main characteristic of copper ore resources in our country is that the poor are more than the rich. What’s more, copper ore gradually tends to poor. Comprehensive development and utilization of complex oxide copper ore resources is an important way to solve the shortage of copper, and relieve the contradiction between copper supply and demand of our country to some extent.In this paper, mineral samples were collected from a copper mine of Qinhai province. The basic theory and flotation characteristics of the oxided copper ores were systematically investigated in this dissertation, combined with the mineralogy study. On this basis, preferential flotation of sulphide copper, mixed flotation of sulphide and oxidized cooper were carried out respectively. What’s more, the effects of dispersant and activator on flotation were studied in this paper. Final test results show that the process of preferential flotation of sulphide copper can improve the copper grade and the concontrate recovery.The research of process mineralogy shows that the copper grade is 0.88%, the oxidation rate is 65.84% in raw ore. The main sulphide copper minerals are chalcopyrite and bornite, and the main oxidized copper minerals are azurite, malacihite and chrysocolla, but the main gangue minerals are quartz and sericite. The chrysocolla is higher in the oxidized copper minerals, which has an adverse effect on the recovery of copper. Sulphide copper minerals and pyrite sphalerite, limonite disseminate together, and it’s hard to achieve batter liberation and concentrate of shlpide coppe. What’s more, high content of sericite and chlorite which esay to be muddy against the recovery of copper.The tests of preferential flotation of sulphide copper were carried out using sodium silicate as regulator, ammonium shlfate and sodium sulphide as activator of oxidized copper minerals, butyl xanthate as the collector of sulphide copper minerals, butyl xanthate and hydroximic acid as collectors of oxidized copper minerals,2# as the foaming agent. The main performance of the closed circuit test in laboratory are that the grade and recovery of concentrate of shlpide copper are 16.11%,34.75%, respectively,and the grade and recovery of concentrate of oxidized copper are 16.62%,39.40%, respectively. The combined concentrate grade of copper is 16.38%, overall recovery is 74.16%.The tests of mixed flotation of sulphide and oxidized cooper were carried out, and finally closed circuit test results gave that the concentrate grade is 17.57%, recovery is 72.68%.It can be seen that compared with mixed flotation of sulphide and oxidized cooper, the preferential flotation of sulphide copper can achieve 1.48pct higher recovery, but 1.19pct lower grade of copper.The results of this study have a certain significance in achieving high efficient separation and comprehensive recovery for the same type low grade copper oxide ores.
