Research On Development Pattern Of Shanghai International Shipping Center

With the development of global economy and trade, shipping industry has developed greatly. As an important part of international industry and direction of port evolution, the signification of international shipping center has been emphasized increasingly. Although so many good things make us feel good, it still hides many problems in several years. Compared with the world’s mature international shipping center, the weak soft environment hinders its future development in some extent. The study of developing model of Shanghai international shipping center provides advice not only to Shanghai but also to other domestic shipping center.Firstly, this paper states some relevant theories based on the theory of Supply Chain, the theory of international shipping center, the relationship of port, economy hinterland and central city. It constructs the model of international shipping center based on the theory of supply chain, suggesting that international shipping center is not only one part in the global supply chain but the intersection and power source of logistics, capital flow, information flow and knowledge flow. Then it defines the scope of Shanghai shipping center. This paper mainly studies the whole Shanghai based on Shanghai port as a main part, suggesting that Shanghai has reached the international advanced level in logistics, but other flows are relatively weak. Based on a qualitative analysis of the macro-environment and industry environment, it should choose high-end service developing model. Based on a quantitative analysis of container throughput, it should choose compound developing model. In addition, it analyzes several factors affecting its development from the point of supply chain. Finally, combined with the analysis of development situation and factors, the paper puts forward some proposals and countermeasures of advancing Shanghai international shipping center, including financial and trade development, construction of electronic network, development of hinterland economy, training of shipping talents, perfecting laws and regulations and so on.
