Based on the investigations of land use survey and town cadastral survey, this is paper evaluate the urban residential land intensive use potential at Nanchang, have a comprehensive grasp of Nanchang city residential land intensive utilization and potential, which can provide a scientific basis for scientific management and rational utilization of construction land,and can make a rational land use planning. The main results are as follows:(1) The proportion of Nanchang urban residential land occupying the total area of the construction land is the highest, at33.64%, and mainly distribute in the old city center area, red valley beach area, red state and the south area of the city. Downtown residential land distribution was generally around the old city center, into a dense clumps. The constructions were small spacing; Residential group were within the road narrow and not free; Residential construction also used the compound type manner, and the function was not perfect; The land for residential district was relatively dispersed, intensive degree needed to be improved.(2) Overall, residential area land intensive utilization degree is higher, land of excessive and intensive utilization accounts for68.78%, land of excessive use is mainly distributed in the old city center and south of the city area, land of intensive utilization is generally distributed in Chaoyang district and the east city district; Moderate land use type account for22.90%, mainly distribute in the valley of red beach area, red continent area, dumpling bridge area, Chaoyang district and the south area of the city; Land of low degree use types account for8.34%, mainly distributed in the north of Nanchang.(3) The measurement results of the size of the potential based on the current situation uses:the potential area of residential area is4109.10hm2, absolute size is881.59hm2, the average relative size is62.40%. High potential area covers an area of447.30hm2, account for11%, mainly in red area, red valley beach area, dumpling bridge area, south area of the city; Potential area is541.46hm2, account for13%, mainly distribute in the red state district, south area of the city, Chaoyang district, dumpling bridge state area; Low potential zone covers an area of505.81hm2, account for12%, mainly distribute in the valley of red beach area, central area, the phoenix valley of red beach at Jinjiang road north of the area; The rest is potential free zone.(4) The measurement results of based on planning uses of the potential scale show that the potential area is4109.10hm2, absolute size is1050.95hm2, average relative size is25.58%. High potential areas are mainly distribute in the red state area, red valley beach area, south of the city area, Chaoyang district, dumpling bridge continent area, the area is of555.35hm2, account for14%; Potential in the area is of746.33hm2, account for18%, mainly distribute in red area, red valley beach area, dumpling bridge area and the area south of the city; Low potential zone covers an area of2807.41hm2, account for68%, mainly distribute in the valley of red beach area at Jinjiang road area, north of the old city central area, east area and south area of shanty towns transformation area; The rest is potential free zone.
