Nowadays, as the developing of wireless communication and integrated circuit, personalwireless communication had attracted lots of people’s attention. More and more scholars step intothis field and study deeply, because60GHz frequency is international unlimited and free. As60GHzis on radio frequency, the size of antenna on this frequency is very small, and today’s technologyallowed us to put the antenna on the integrated circuit chip, this is so called Antenna OnChip(AOC).Standard CMOS is widely used in integrated circuit design, today. But the antenna’sefficiency on standard CMOS is extremely low. This because the substrate of standard CMOS issilicon, which low conductivity and high relative permittivity of silicon lead to low efficiency ofantenna. How to improve the efficiency of the antenna is the most important problem in this field.Now, the main methods to solve this problem are as follows: improve the resistivity of siliconsubstrate under the on-chip antenna by means of ion implantation, choose CMOS process with thinsilicon substrate on a chip antenna, remove the silicon substrate by means of micro processing,introduce the isolation layer to separate on-chip antenna and silicon substrate, design the passivationlayer to make it both have the protection and focused function. Also, this paper mainly reports themethod that using standard CMOS process six layers of metal structure to add artificial magneticconductor metal structure of cell cycle between the on-chip antenna and silicon substrate. In thispaper, the main research work is as follows:1. Analysis and summarize the background and develop progress of AMC and AOC, thestudy next is on the basis of these theory and this can give us some inspiration.2. Study and analysis typical high impendence surface’s circuit theory. Including highimpendence surface with metal via and high impendence surface without metal via. Wepresent the circuit’s working principle, equivalent transmission line modal and designformulas. Analysis the relationship between high impendence surface and artificialmagnetic conductor. The AMC structure is used to restrain the surface wave andimprove the antenna’s efficiency.3. Analysis antenna’s parameters, design micro-strip antenna and dipole antenna onstandard CMOS according to the theory. Optimize the antennas’ structure to meetrequire on60GHz.4. At first, design simple standard cross AMC structure according to the theory of AMC.Next, rice ship AMC structure is designed base on standard cross structure.5. Put the AMC structure under the antennas to research the difference of S11and radiation efficiency. The AMC structure on difference metal layer and different numbercan leads to the S11and antenna efficiency change.
