In recent years, with the development of biotechnology, bioprocess has been increasingly usedin medicine, energy, food, environmental control and other fields. The current development ofbioprocess has gone out of the laboratory, and has been applied in industrial production processes.Due to the complexity of the biological processes, integration some online process analyticalinstruments, develop online monitor and controlling system is the key to achieve biologicalprocesses of modernization and automation. Currently, some scientific instruments have beendeveloped, but they are dispersed. Integrating these instruments and developing multi-scaleintegrated bio-process information and database management systems, will greatly improve the thedevelopment of bio-engineering.This article, combined with the project of data integration and database construction, takingbioprocess online monitor and controlling system and construction of multi-scale database systemas research objects, carried on a more thorough study of system integration, design ofcommunicating protocol and multi-scale biological database, construction and application of datacenter. This article, aiming at requirement analysis of bioprocess parameters information, combinedwith the current development status of measuring and control system of bioprocess, determined thefunction of instrument integrated by this system, local online measuring software and remote Websystem of online data access. Communication protocol design includes two parts: local and remotedata transmission. CAN network consisting of four devices, using the Modbus-RTU protocol tocommunicate with the local host. Another four devices using serial connect to the local host, and wedefine the protocol as the Modbus-RTU format. At the same time, it is provided with SMS server,so it can give an overrun alarm to customs cell phone by GSM network. The bioprocessmonitoring and control software design includes software architecture design, public class designand interface implementation. The key features include: user management, create a new experiment, template management, automatic and manual control, equipment management, batch data queries, data export, instructions for user and other functions. The database design includes MySQL serverdeployment under Windows Server2008, the logical structure of the database design, database E-Rdiagrams, database logic diagrams, tables design and table implementation. Besides, we havestudied the storage method of cell images in the database. Design of remote data access mainlycontains data access pages, the use of graphical controls. And then introduction the construction ofthe site from three aspects: the communication protocol, network construct and server architecture. Most of the current existing monitor and control systems of bioprocess put particular emphasison collection and control of environmental parameter. The online monitor and controlling system ofbioprocess mentioned in this article can manage multi–instruments and choose differentcombination according to user demand, collect experimental data and upload them to data center atthe same time, thus the user can observe the experimental data via Web interface. The multi-scalebioprocess database contains conventional numeric parameter and images about the microorganismmorphology; it also provides a reference for developers to construction and expansion biologicaldatabase in the future. At last this article shows the application in the process of culturing Spirulinaand Pichia anomala in the system. The results show that the system is stable and reliable, andeffectively improve the level of process automation and product quality.
