Nowadays, with the increasing development of high-performance computers (HPC) the number of processors on a single chip is also improved. In this case, high performance interconnection is particularly important, but the traditional electrical interconnection based on copper suffers problems. Compared to electrical interconnection, optical interconnection has larger bandwidth, lower latency, lower power consumption and so on. Therefore, it attracts much attention in a lot of institutions. However, the optical network on chip (ONoC) design is still in an immature stage. The related EDA tool as well as experimental platforms are not perfect. In this paper, we present an aided design solution about optical interconnect network, that is a hardware validation platform based on FPGA.The design purpose of the experimental platform is a large ASIC design prototyping device, which can reduce the time and cost of pre-development. Firstly, we analyze the Aurora high-speed communication protocol and then the generic function modules are introduced, including data transmission module, data receiving and detecting module, arbitration module, routing module, data channel-setup module and data observation module. Moreover, some modules are tested.Based on the platform, we use4FPGA to realize a broadcast hybrid optoelectronic interconnect network. After that, the functions of the network are shown and performance is detected by the platform. Results show that the network has a bit error rate (BER) which is better than10-12at the rate of3Gbps, and loss of packets isn’t detected. Furthermore, the platform can also be used to simulate the performance of optical interconnect network. The performance of various sizes of the optical Mesh networks and optical Torus networks are analyzed by this platform.
