Anti-radiation missile(ARM), especially the high-speed ARM, is the primary andmost direct threat to the radar among which the four threats faced. It can destroy radarto make its operation hard to restore, and make the bad influence to the mentation ofradar operator. Thereby, how to detect and withstand high-speed ARM is the problemfocused generally in the radar field.There are two schemes to employ electronic decoy against ARM. One is decoy canalways be in operation with radar, which can make the radar works continuously.However the power of decoy must at least cover the sidelobe in the upper space of radar,it will cause huge decoy equipment to realize omnibearing coverage for the high-powerradars, and its cost and mobility is also unacceptable. The other scheme is employingthe warning radar to detect ARM attack, make radar system turn off in short time andswitch on decoy. In this scheme the advantage is relative low power, less equipment,better mobility and low cost for the decoy.Two key techniques i.e. general design and tactical performance analysis of warningradar must be solved in its application. The research objective in this paper isdemonstrating, analyzing general design of warning radar and its engineeringimplementation from the point of view on system design, and then reduced analyze andevaluate tactical performance of ARM with the method on observing civil aviation.It is firstly introduced in this paper that attack features and tactical application waysof ARM, completely analyzed signal separation method of passive radar seeker, andpointed out that time selection is the important feature for ARM signal separation. Asfollowing, the paper analyzes the theoretical basis of warning technique against ARM,completely analyzes and describes some key techniques on warning system design fromthe point of view on system design, and technical method employed in engineeringimplementation. Finally, describes the observation to the civil aviation target withsystem prototype and summarize the warning radar application.
