| Family archives are records of daily information for both family members and thewhole family. They are one of representatives of social memories and also are importantcomponents of the national information resources. It is a meaningful thing not only tocitizens but also to the country if we attach importance to the management of familyarchives and try to improve it constantly. As records of daily life, family archives can makelife more convenient and it also does help to protect their interests of the whole family. Inaddition, as a supplement of the national information resources, family archives especiallythose with significant values for society can be reliable references of scientific research. Atlast, family archives can do favor to promoting the construction of harmonious society andimproving citizens’ consciousness of Archiving.New types of digital archives appeared successively in the digitalization age, such asdigital images, audio, video, micro-blog, electronic instruments etc. Compared withtraditional family archives which mainly consist of paper files, digital archives makehigher demands on both management and technology. Now several cities of China took thelead on the exploration of family archives and already got some achievements. Shenyang,as a typical representative among others, it has many remarkable experiences and it alsoneeds continuous improvement. The management of family archives should be based onthe concept of General Archiving and be integrated into the system of personal archives;and with the help of both governments and nongovernmental organizations, it would bemore and more professional, concentrated and efficient.Based on the background of informatization, this paper expounds basic theories offamily archives, and focus on digital archives. It also makes analysis of the current status and future development of family archives. A large amount of data and examples are usedin this paper to make it more reliable and accurate. |
