As the most updated concept of science popularization, science communication places much emphasis on equality and interaction between the disseminator and the audiences. However, among all the Television programs today, there is no such Television program that could really ensure the equality and interaction. This paper, from the macroscopic perspective, investigates the television programs on science popularization by integrating it into the field of science communication and discusses about the relationship between the popularization of science programs and society as well as the relationship between public understanding and the participation in science from the perspective of communication.From the microscopic perspective, it adopts the method of case study and draws upon the experience of the successful European and American programs on science popularization so as to make this kind of Television program more popular and connects the audiences and society with a transparent bridge of knowledge.This paper is consisted of four parts. The first chapter is the introduction, which expounds on the basic concepts of the science communication theory and the research situation of China’s television programs on science popularization. The second chapter introduces the development course of television programs on science popularization under different concepts of science popularization. The third chapter analyzes and compares the two classical cases from China and America,1001Truths and MythBusters from the aspects of hosts, non-verbal means, lens language and interactive sessions. The fourth chapter proposes the ideal television programs on science popularization and investigates the deficiencies and future development of the relevant programs in China on the basis of the current concept of science popularization.
