When communication networks become increasingly complex and huge, the actualnetwork are built to complete network planning, design, verification and testing isunlikely, more and more network simulation systems are used to accomplish thesefunctions. The extensive use of network simulation system put forward higherrequirements for network simulation technology. The network simulation systemcombined with distributed simulation and hardware-in-loop simulation technology isbetter able to meet the application requirement. Distributed simulation technology canexpand the size of the network simulation via using the network to connect the differentsimulation systems. Hardware-in-loop simulation technology is able to access the actualdevice and enhance the authenticity of the network simulation system via the interactionbetween the simulation system and the actual device.Paper analyzes the network simulation technology based on a variety of simulationtools and in-depth study of the theory and implementation of the framework of thedistributed simulation and hardware-in-loop simulation technology. Then, the projectaccomplished the network simulation system’s distributed simulation framework,hardware-in-loop simulation gateway and simulation node based on user needs andequipment requirements, relying on the LAN, Linux operating system and sampleresults.First, the paper analyses the system’s functional requirements, performancerequirements and general requirements. Then, based on the needs of distributedsimulation and hardware-in-loop simulation, using the sample results, the paperaccomplishes hardware-in-loop simulation gateway which make up of hardware-in-loopsimulation unit and interface unit. The simulation cell based on PC framework and thehardware-in-loop simulation gateway are connected with ethernet bus, forming a networksimulation system hardware framework. Finally, the paper focuses on design of thesoftware, including the software architecture design, human-computer interactivesoftware design, distributed simulation framework design, hardware-in-loop simulationframework design and simulation node design. Project accomplished human-computer interaction software and networksimulation system. Briefly introduce human-computer interaction software interface andcommand; detailed analyse the realization of the principle, data flow, pseudo-code anddata structures of system’s hardware-in-loop simulation gateway, distributed simulationagent and simulation nodes.Project completed a comprehensive test and analysis of network simulation system.Briefly test network planning and configuration management function ofhuman-computer interaction, including network planning, parameters distributed, testand management; Fully test the routing protocol interaction between simulation nodesand between the simulation node with actual equipment, test EIGRP and OSPF routingprotocol’s convergence in various network topologies and route-based datacommunications; Test MPLS protocols between simulation node and between thesimulation node with actual equipment, including the LSP management, labeldistribution and LSP-based data communication.Network simulation system can simulate the whole process of network planning,deploying, management and testing. It can connect the actual network to completelarge-scale network protocol performance testing. Be used as protocol conformanceanalysis of new equipment and as development platform of new protocol.
