Since1973, the father of the "mobile phone" Motorola Engineering Technician Martin Cooper invented the world’s first civilian mobile phones, mobile has became indispensable communication tools in people’s daily life. The cell phone has become an indispensable part of the daily life of contemporary people due to the fundamental telecommunication and other various services that it renders. Full-featured, distinct features of the phone must be supported by a set of superior performance of the phone system, so the research of the phone system is becoming increasingly important. Now several major mobile phone OS in the world includes the BlackBerry OS, Windows Mobile OS, iPhone OS, Symbian OS, Android OS. As a code open source OS, Android OS, which by virtue of its superior system performance, user-friendly interface, and the breaking down of the exclusive rights of OS,is becoming more and more important in a number of the Mobile phone OS. The world’s giants of the mobile communications industry for example HTC, Samsung and Motorola, have released its own Android phone products. Toady, Android OS is no longer confined to be applied on the phone, many companied have applied Android system to Table PC, watches, and even the instrumental equipment.This paper first introduces the development of mobile phones, briefly introduced several of the most unique phone systems, from the convenience that smart phone bring to people’s lives perspective to explain the advantages of smart phone. And then the paper analyzed the Android’s advantage which is different from the other smart phone systems, and the current research and development status at home and abroad on the Android system.Second, the article analyzes the Android system architecture and the composition of the Android system, and elaborates on the four major components of the Android system and its life cycle.Then the article describes the development board’s hardware resources, explains how to port the Android system on S5PV210development board and run successfully, which includes making boot loader, modifying and tailoring Google’s Android kernel, installing the cross compiler, compile the kernel and make it into a mirror, and making Android source mirror.The article explains how to build Android application development environment in the Windows environment. And after the detail study of the use of the development progress and components of android developer program, I build a mp3music player program by the use of Eclipse, and it realizes music player function on the development board which indirectly confirms the porting outcomes.Finally, the article summarizes the work that has been done, and discusses the follow-up works.
