Along with the development of ITS technology and demands of the road evaluations, bythe interaction between the vehicles,micro-simulation model can describe the randombehavior of traffic flows and the traffic characteristics of the entire networks, can also predictsingle-vehicle travel delays, stops number, emissions and other indicators. It can also modeland simulate the peak hours of the major network at a microscopic level to avoid affecting thereality of road traffic. So through various experiments, traffic engineers can select the bettertraffic plan to achieve the purpose of the evaluation of the entire road network system.VISSIM is the most widely used micro-simulation software in China, which is amicroscopic traffic simulation system software developed by the German PTV Corporation, itcan analyze the traffic and transport operations in the case of the driveway configuration, traffic organization, traffic signals and other constraints and detect the feasibility of transportprojects and plans to assess the different options. At the same time as the proposed of the car networking systems, the research of the carnetworking systems is very popular, SUMO is an effective tool for vehicle networking systemsimulation. The SUMO traffic software is an open source microscopic traffic simulationplatform developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), it is a microscopic, continuousspace simulation software,as an open source simulation platform, the main purpose of it is toimplement and evaluate their own algorithm for the transport researchers. This thesis is based on the understanding and the experience of the using of the twomicroscopic traffic simulations softwares, and I detailed compare the characteristics of thetwo softwares between the systems environment, the form of interface structure, dataorganization, management methods, graphical analysis functions and modeling capabilitiesand employ the two softwares to achieve the same traffic simulation, from which we cancompare the availability, ease of use, flexibility, enabling us to more profound understandingof the two softwares. So this thesis is a strong reference for the choosers, users, developers.
