The embedded system is a special-purpose computer system developed for somespecific function. With the rapid development of science and the increasingrequirement of people, embedded system has already been applied in all fields of ourdaily life, such as industrial control, security and monitoring, aerospace and defense,CE and robots, playing a huge role in the life style and the modern society.Image processing system, which is based on embedded system, has a betterperformance in portability, stability and real-time. Embedded system broadens theapplication fields of image processing technology and makes it much more adaptiveto the environment. The embedded image processing system is successfully realizedin distance monitoring, data acquisition, target tracking, etc. As to the gas-liquid twophase flow detection, the designed embedded image processing system can fulfill allthe site requirements.Based on the embedded technology and image processing tochnology, theembedded image processing system is designed to process the two phase image in aflexible and human-computer interacting way. Microprocessor S3C2440andembedded operating systems are chosen to accomplish the image processing system.Considering the functions and features of the image processing system, the overallstructure is researched from two parts, hardware and software. In the first part, afteranalyzing the structure and feature of embedded system, the architecture ofmicroprocessor ARM9are studied. Then the details, such as LCD module and othersources of the hardware platform with S3C2440as kernel, are researched.As to thesoftware, after some operating system compared,the proper embedded systems arechosen and transplanted to the target platform based on ARM920T successfully,accomplishing the embedded cross development environment. Secondly, thealgorithms of the gas-liquid two phase flow are determined and realized on μC/OS-Ⅱ.GUI (Graphical User Interface) of embedded image processing system is designedbased on QT, and made into an application in Qtopia frame. With the former two partworks, the fundamental functions can be effectively accomplished with a friendlyman-machine GUI.in the paper, the embedded image processing platform are preliminarily structured and basic processing steps are realized,which are beneficial tothe extension of image processing functions.
