Science-Tech Rumor In Risk Society: Communication And Administration

With the development of science and technology, the human society comes to ahighly developed modern society. But the science and technology bring risks as well.The trek of modern society is coerced by the out of risk. The socialist Beck pointed outthat the post-modern society was a risky society in essence----one where thescience-technology threats the human life for its reflexive. For the media, the pollutionof environment, broken of ecology, food additives, radiation and so on are part ofmedia issues. But on the other hand, for the public, these risks coursed horror onaccount of their characters such as inevitability, invasive, super-empirical,anti-confirmatory, controversial. Because of the uncertainty, the poverty of interrelatedinformation and the horror mood driven by risk, the civil discourse of risk oftendeviated from the track of truth and walked to science-technology rumor, a newcategory for rumor.Started from gene risk, radiation risk and chemicals risk, this paper will analyzethe elements and driving and communication mechanism of science-technology rumor.The analysis found the contrast between media discourse and civil discourse in theexplosion of Co-60happened in Qixian2009. This case study will be helpful for theimprovement of science-technology rumor government.Occupying one corner, rumor reflects the real psychological of people who arefacing the science-technology risk, cuts down the social pressure, but also caused somenegative effects. As a result, there is need to strengthen the information communication,found the public sphere to close the information-gap between the experts and public,aimed at the social panic what might be brought by science-tech rumor.
