When it comes to the era of reading pictures,it is considered that there are too many picturesor images all over our society for people to receive,which has greatly changed the ways of readingand thinking of human beings at an extremely high speed.Since the day the concept of the era of reading pictures has been invented,it has been seenrepeatedly in many kinds of articles.And the subjects of the studies on the era of reading picturesare stressed on the communication of pictures throughout the mass media as well as somequestions and debates about the the visual communication.First of all,based on the concernedendeavors to do lots of researches and analyses,this thesis traced the origins and development ofthe concept of the era of reading pictures,and also summarized the definitions and characters ofthat.Secondly,this thesis analyzed the survival condition of the traditional mass media al well asthe psychology of audience in the era of reading pictures.And by means of contrast betweenpictures and written words,it also analyzed the changes of ways of reading and thinking of humanbeings.Finally,this thesis suggested that the traditional mass media,such as Newspapers,Magazinesand Television,should be able to adopt the tactics of visual communication so as to adapt therequirements of society and be able to compete with opponents in the media market.In order to survive in the fierce competition,the traditional mass media should not only relyon the contents of the mass media,but also pay a great attention to the visual images ofthemselves.This thesis also included that it is important to make full use of the combination of thevarious visual factors,which is more likely to improve the visual impact and make a long-lastingspiritual infectivity as well as the value in information.On one hand,only in this way can thetraditional mass media show their unique qualities that can comfort audience and draw theirattention to make a progress in communication;On the other hand,as a result,only in this way canthe audience gain their aesthetic joys in visual and psychology.
