| This essay is based on literature review, video observation, expert interview and analysis and comparisons of statistics. It discusses the modified content and its consequent effects in the new rules of men’s vault. Besides, it analyses the internationally new trends in men’s vault, finds out the difficulties and weaknesses existing in China’s men’s vault, and comes up with rational strategies to improve the current situation. This provides our sporting department with reference to design scheme and plan for the development of gymnastics in the next Olympic round during2013-2016, which is meaningful in that it is to improve the quality of men’s vault.The results of the research turn out to be:1. While difficulty score generally drops by1point, news rules for men’s vault come up with higher demands for athletes. The ratio of getting points between vault and other five events are more reasonable. Motions like Airspring2weeks and twist are encouraged to be developed.2. The trends of development in men’s vault are as below:3kinds of motions are intensively used, which makes the developments not balanced; innovations and raising difficulties are still the directions of developments; the quality of motions in men’s vault clearly improves; medals can be won only after two high-difficulty and high-quality motions are finished.3. The weaknesses existing in men’s vault in China lie in several ways as below:for years nobody in China’s men’s vault has been able to compete in single final in world gymnastics competitions; in team final the performances of men’s vault are not stable; in individual all-round final the competitive strength drops; in national and international men’s vault single finals, the quality and success rate of our athletes’ performances are a bit low, the variety limited and innovation not consistent with new trends.4. Seven pieces of strategies for changing the current situation of men’s vault in China are provided. |
