As the core content of internal Canon of Yellow Emperor (internal Canon),the doctrine of Viscera state has established the theoretical foundation for clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment. according to the theory above, liver is considered as a general officer, a root of fatigue and movement, with the function of mastering considering. Therefore, it is very important for carrying out the research on Hepatic Diseases theory. The statement in internal Canon about hepatic system disease is rich in content and informative, involving the concept of the hepatic system disease, pathogenesis, symptoms, methods of clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment, dialectical theory of governance, all that is not. only the fundamental part of liver disease theory, but the guiding ideology. Nonetheless, the name of different liver diseases and syndromes are vague and difficult to distinguish. Later doctors inherited and developed the theory of Hepatic disease, accumulated a wealth of experience. However, for various reasons, the activities of comprehensively systematic arrangement and scientific standardized on hepatic diseases have not been carried out until now. Consequently, it becomes important and necessary to analyze internal Canon. Thousands of years of succession and development allows us to understand that the Hepatic disease theory has been developing on different levels. Carrying out the investigation on the background of its born period is better for correctly understanding the expression of the Hepatic disease and related concepts, the hidden essence of the theory, the content and extension of relevant concepts, improving the combination with modern clinical medicine,theory innovation, playing a better part in guiding Chinese medicine clinical practice to make the theory more effectively service clinical practice.In this paper, the literature concluding and collating methods were adopted. Firstly, sort out all the related articles from internal Canon to analyze relevant factors for naming and establish the principle for expressing the relevant concepts, accordingly determine the basic content. Secondly, compare analyze, verify and distinguish the relevant documents before and after internal Canon to explicit the content and extension of Hepatic disease, further analyze and explore the meaning of diseases’name and the evolution process, summarize source and course of hepatic disease, providing valuable literature to later hepatic disease theory and clinical development.Through the collation of the internal Canon related documents,208Hepatic disease name were found, the factors for naming was defined and the principles of classification was determined. Further selected jaundice, hypochondriac pain, bloating, spasm disease, headache, dizziness, to verify and distinguish the development process, sort out their origins of the theory and the regular pattern of evolution.
