A RE-Examination Of The Treatise: The Zangfu-Organs Of Spleen And Stomach Is The Foundation Of The Body

The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Treatise on Zangfu-Organs of Spleen andStomach emphasizes that the Zangfu-Organs of Spleen and Stomach is the foundation ofthe body. It propounds that the Zangfu-Organs of Spleen and Stomach is the pool ofnutrition and the source of Qi and Blood in the body, as well as the central point of boththe Zangfu-Organs and the Meridians of the human being. A failure to function properlywill result in illnesses. The traditional wisdom believes that treatment based on theZangfu-Organs of Spleen and Stomach is extremely important for illnesses of varioussystems including gastroenterology. However, a quantitative proof of the importance ofsuch treatments is lacking.Hence, this paper aims to prove the importance of the Treatise on Zangfu-Organs ofSpleen and Stomach. The objectives are to provide clearer and a relatively moresystematic illustration of the Treatise, and to achieve a quantitative result from thetreatments based on this Treatise.This paper reviews the various stages of development of the TCM Treatise onZangfu-Organs of Spleen and Stomach, and examines the viewpoints of the critical TCMexperts. It adopts a macro approach toward the literature review of critical TCM theoryon the subject, and applies statistical analysis to《The Selection of TCM clinical records》.This paper has provided a methodical and clear illustration of the Treatise onZangfu-Organs of Spleen and Stomach, and has achieved a hitherto non-existingdefinitive quantitative result regarding the effectiveness of the clinical TCM treatmentbased on this Treatise. Hence, this paper has provided verification as well as a firm basisfor the clinical TCM treatment, based on the Treatise on Zangfu-Organs of Spleen andStomach.
