[Objective] To investigate the effect of lateral rectus recession on wavefront aberration(WA) in patients with exotropia.[Methods] Fouteen cases(23eyes) of patients with exotropia who underwent unilateral or bilateral lateral rectus recession were enrolled and their wavefront aberration information was assessed with the iTrase Visual Function Analyzer at pre-operation and day1and day7postoperatively. In order to evaluate the changes of WA before and after the surgery, root mean square(RMS)of TOAs, HO As and LOAs,3rd-,4th-order aberrations, and SA (C40) of the total ocular and corneal aberrations at4.0mm zone of pupil were analysed.[Results](1) The total ocular wavefront aberration There were significant differences the total eye C3-3(trefoil), C31(horizontal coma), C33(trefoil) between pre-operation and day1after-operation (P<0.05).
