Background and ObjectCervical cancer is the commonest female genital tract malignancy. At the beginning of this disease it does not have any apparent symptom, but when it comes to the illness, it will cause some symptoms like vaginal bleeding. The cause has not yet fully understood, the age of onset is widely distributed, and cases with lymph node metastasis have poor prognosis. In recent decades the universal application of cervical cytology screening, cervical cancer and precancerous lesions to enable early detection, treatment of cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates have decreased significantly. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical method newly developed, with advantages like minor surgical trauma, faster recovery, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, smaller incision scar, etc., it has been increasingly used in hysterectomy surgical aspects. The QOL(Quality Of Life), as a new general and objective evaluation of the living situations and the Sense of life fulfillment of the patients, as comprehensive evaluation criteria of the patients after treatment of physiological and psychological aspects, has attracted more and more attention. The main purpose of this research is to assess the quality of life of Cervical cancer patients after Laparoscopic surgery, and also the differences of quality of life under different situations. The purpose of this study is to assess the quality of life of patients with cervical cancer after laparoscopic surgery.MethodsWith methods of Epidemiological cross-sectional study, we questionnaire FIGO I-II stage patients with cervical cancer completed treatment in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University from January2010to December2013. We select Chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-C30and Chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-CX24developed by European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC) as a questionnaire. Quality of life questionnaire results obtained by phone and e-mail follow-up way. Also, in accordance with the calculation method provided EORTC scoring criteria, the results are analyzed and described. Meanwhile, according to the relationship of the follow-up time, FIGO stage and age three factors affecting on the quality of life survey results, we group cases, and non-parametric Wilcoxon test is used for statistical analysis of the significant differences between the groups.ResultsIn the mean follow-up time of21.3months, range6.7-44.6months, overall health score of the quality of life is higher, which means that the patients have a good overall quality of life after treatment. Fatigue, insomnia, lacking appetite, peripheral neuropathy and Menopausal symptoms score are slightly higher, which means that a slight discomfort, the most severe symptom is sexual function, and the remaining entries scores are lower, which means that the rest of the symptoms are not obvious. The analysis of the relationship of the follow-up time, FIGO stage and age three factors affecting on the quality of life survey results shows that most of the entries were no significant differences, and age affects quality of life outcomes only in Role functioning, Cognitive functioning, Insomnia, Body image, General health and global quality of life and Sexual worry respects. There is only the larger impact on Sexual worry, the relatively minor impact on other projects.ConclusionGeneral quality of life of patients with cervical cancer after laparoscopic surgery is good, only in Fatigue, insomnia, lacking appetite, peripheral neuropathy and Menopausal symptoms respects, there is slight discomfort, and serious outstanding performance is bad sexual functioning. And age affects quality of life outcomes only in Role functioning, Cognitive functioning, Insomnia, Body image, General health and global quality of life and Sexual worry respects.
