Objective:To compare the damage of function of parotid with Nasopharyngealcacinoma(NPC)between intensity modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)and3D-CRT.Method:Fifty three cases of NPC were randomly divided into the3D-CRT (33cases)and IMRT (20cases) groups. All patients were checked by SPECT to test the parotidfunction of uptake and excretory before radiotherapy, at the end of radiotherapy and3months after radiotherapy, and evaluate the degree of dry mouth. Results:As compared with that before radiotherapy, the parotid function of uptakeand excretory of two groups at the end radiotherapy showed a different degree ofreduction, and all patients suffered from the symptoms of dry mouth in two groups(P>0.05). The recovery of parotid gland function and dry mouth in the IMRT group3months after radiotherapy were statistically better than that in the3D-CRT group (P<0.05).Conclusions:3D-CRT and IMRT can better mitigate the parotid gland dysfunction. Therecovery of parotid function was better3months after IMRT.
