Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Non-segmental Vitiligo With Narrow-band Ultraviolet B Phototherapy And Calcipotriol Betamethasone Ointment

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and security of narrow-bandUVB combined calcipotriol betamethasone cream in the treatment ofnon-generalized vitiligo.Methods: The study included61patients, with28male and43female. Theclassification are as follows:8patients of Undetermined Vitiligo;50patients ofSporadic vitiligo;2patients of Acrofacial vitiligo;1patient of Mucosal vitiligo.There are127lesions in total, which were divided according to the differenttreatment methods into combined group and the control group. Combined groupincluded38patients, with87lesions, and in the control group there were23patients, with40lesions. Patients in combined group received partialnarrow-band UVB therapy three times a week, at the same time they appliedcalcipotriol betamethasone cream once a day at bedtime. Patients in controlgroup received partial narrow-band UVB therapy three times a week. Allpatients had a continuous treatment for three months, and a monthly clinicalevaluation of efficacy and adverse reaction were taken.Results: There was a significant difference in the total effective ratebetween two groups after1month’s treatment (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in either the cure rate, the total effective rate or themarkedly effective rate between two groups after2month’s treatment(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference in the total effective rate between twogroups after3month’s treatment. The efficacy of different parts of the body wassuccessively head and face and neck, trunk, then limbs. The side effects rate ofcombined group was lower than that of control group, but there was nostatistical significance between these two groups.Conclusion: The combination of narrow-band UVB with calcipotriolbetamethasone cream therapy in the treatment of non-generalized vitiligo wasmore effective than using narrow spectrum UVB therapy only.
