Objectives To analysis the cause of the blood discarding among VoluntaryNon-remunerated Blood Donation in Wenzhou City, and explore the way to decrease theblood discarding rate.Methods The data about the blood discarding during the period of2007-2011werecollected from Zhejiang Blood Information Network and Management System, and theinfectious and non-infectious factors of the blood discarding were analysed.Results In the last5years, the blood discarding caused by infectious and non-infectiousfactors showed an increasing trend. And the blood discarding which were caused byinfectious factors (15335u,70.93%) were significantly higher than non-infectiousfactors (6283u,29.07%)(P<0.01). The main infectious factors were Anti-TP positive(accounted for0.58%of the total blood discarding), increasing AlanineAminotransferase (0.50%), HBsAg positive (0.40%), Anti-HCV positive (0.26%) andAnti-HIV positive (0.23%), respectively. The main non-infectious factors wereinadequate blood volume (accounted for0.24%of the total blood discarding), Lipemia(0.18%) and Damaging (0.16%), respectively. The blood discarding caused by Syphilisand Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) were higher, the significant difference about allthe associated factors were found in the last5years.Conclusion To decrease the blood discarding rate, the blood bank have something todo, such as building a more scientific Management Method, enhancing the quality control in the process of blood collecting and improving the blood test methods.
