Objective:Through consulting relevant literatures to understand the characteristics, research progress and production process of herbal paste. By screening the effective prescription and commonly used drugs in the treatment of common diseases from Professor Shan Zhaowei’s medical records and combining with modern research results of the herbal paste, the comprehensively analysis on the application of all varieties of drugs in the treatment of a certain disease are carried out and the characteristics、regulations and experience of drug use are summarized in order to provide clinical reference for TCM clinical treatment of herbal paste.Methods:Outpatients treated by Professor Shan Zhaowei personally from November,2011to February,2012were selected. The relevant contents of254cases in total311diagnoses were recorded with Visual FoxPro data management system software item by item and the data was performed classification and statistics analysis after the data was conversed in excel format. Then the document was stored in Word format. Based on the SQL-Server2005and use the descriptive statistics (Descriptive statistic) and association rules mining method (Association rules) to analyze the professor Shan’s Dialectical medication rules In the use of herbal paste.Results:1. The outpatients mainly covered30-40,41-50and51-60age group, whose proportions to the total amount of outpatients were19.69%,31.10%,24.80%respectively.2. Professor Shan’s outpatient in use of herbal paste are with common diseases such as chronic atrophic gastritis, chronic superficial gastritis, high blood pressure, fatigue, irregular menstruation, stomach ulcers, insomnia, reflux esophagitis, etc.3. High frequency drugs in professor Shan’s herbal paste:radix pseudostellariae, fried atractylodes, pinellia tuber, coix seed, radix rehmanniae, radix rehmanniae, radix ophiopogonis, radix asparagi, radix polygoni multiflori, loranthus parasiticus, cornus, chinese yam, dried human placenta, curculigo and epimedium. Intermediate frequency drugs:astragalus root, rhizoma polygonati, lily, caulis dendrobii, jade bamboo, kudzuvine root, eucommia bark, fructus ligustri lucidi, spreading hedyotis herb. There are107varieties of drugs with utilization rate less than20%. They are mainly used in the visceral lesions out of spleen and kidney or clip symptoms or combined with other syndromes.Conclusion:1. From the physiological perspective, kidney-qi, vital-qi and immunity system start to decline and the chance of attack by exopathogens increases in women over35and men over40. The patients aged31-40,41-50and51-60are more suitable for the herbal paste.2. From the perspective of diseases, herbal paste is suitable for the treatment of diseases such as chronic atrophic gastritis, chronic superficial gastritis, high blood pressure, fatigue, irregular menstruation, stomach ulcers, insomnia and reflux esophagitis, etc.3. Each of the professor Shan’s herbal paste is overall arranged around the basic prescription as the core and guidance, reinforce based on syndrome differentiation, treat in accordance with the individuality, environment and climate. The main part is to the main symptoms, the auxiliary part is to the sub-symptoms, the assist part is to the accompanied symptom, guiding and condensing the soup into a herbal paste. The characteristic of drug ingredients is moderate and mild, tuning up suitably, medication combined with diet therapy, tonifying in a proper way, nourishing the spleen and stomach, supporting the acquired foundation, reinforcing the healthy and eliminate the pathogenic, taking account of the whole body, using drug pairs smartly and combining components accurately, emphasizing on pharmacological, applying smartly. The main idea of formulating prescription is to establish a basic prescriptions, dialectical addition and subtraction, treating individually, making up the deficiency, taking account of the body, regulating yin and yang.
