Professor Gu Xizhen’s Clinical Medicine Experience Of Herbal Paste In Treating Myasthenia Gravis

Objective:Collecting clinical data of patients with myasthenia gravis,observing the clinical efficacy of treating those patients with herbal paste by Professor Gu Xizhen,summarizing the clinical treatment experience, to provide reference for the clinical treatment of TCM.Methods:34 cases were collected from October 2013 to December 2015 who were treatmented by Professor Gu Xizhen.These patients who were diagnosed with flaccidity took the herbal paste with 8 weeks.The muscle strength were scored by pre-treatmen,4 weeks and 8 weeks. The scores before and after treatment were statistical analyzed and compared by SPSS software. Assessde efficacy by observing situation of muscle weakness. Researched the Chinese medicine used in the herbal paste by frequency analysis combined with the theory of TCM prescription and diagnosis, summarized the clinical treatment experience.Results:1.The absolute scores of pre-treatment are compared with the scores after 4 weeks and 8 weeks.The differences are statistically significant (P<0.05),while the difference between the absolute scores of 4 weeks and 8 weeks is also statistically significant(P<0.05),therefore,treating for 4 weeks and 8 weeks both can improve muscle strength and the improving of muscle strength after 8 weeks is more evident.2.The overall mean of relative score after 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment is all more than 25%, which indicates that the treatment of the two phases can overall achieve better and higher level. The total efficiency calculated by relative score after 4 weeks and 8 weeks are 76.47% and 91.18% respectively,so the treatment after 8 weeks is more efficient.3.The absolute scores of eyelid, eye movements, limbs, facial muscles decrease significantly at 4 weeks and 8 weeks, which compared with before treatment comparison P<0.05, which showing that after two treatment phases the muscle strength are all improved. Compared absolute scores of 8 weeks and 4 score, the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05), which indicating the improvement of muscle strength after 8 weeks is more obvious. Compared the absolute scores of chewing and swallowing muscles of after 4 weeks with before treatments,the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05),but after 8 weeks of treatment the scores compared4.with 4 weeks do not change.The absolute scores of respiratory muscle after 4 weeks do not change compared with before treatment,but the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05) when compared with after 8 weeks,which revealing the improvement of respiratory muscle take a longer course of treatment.5.The efficacy of Professor Gu Xizhen treating MG with herbal paste have no significant between different genders and types,all patients of different genders and types all can obtain reliable results.6.Treating MG with herbal paste Professor Gu Xizhen always selects tonic,sedative drugs, digestion medicine.Attaching importance to using lifting and leading drugs,while focusing on the prevention of exogenous and adjusting medicine by syndromes.7.The characteristics of using drug in the treating MG by Professor Gu Xizhen with herbal paste can be summarized as follows:replenishing spleen and kidney, taking into account the five viscera;regulating functional activities of qi;activating spleen, regulating stomach and tranquilization;strengthening body resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors.Conclusions:Treating MG of type I and II with the herbal paste by Professor Gu Xizhen can achieve effect,.In addition to chewing,swallowing and respiratory muscles,all other muscles-strength can improve continuous and the curative effect is not influenced by genders and types.Treating MG with herbal paste Professor Gu Xizhen always selects tonic,sedative drugs, digestion medicine.Attaching importance to using lifting and leading drugs,while focusing on the prevention of exogenous and adjusting medicine by syndromes.The characteristics of using drug in the treating MG by Professor Gu Xizhen with herbal paste can be summarized as follows:replenishing spleen and kidney, taking into account the five viscera;regulating functional activities of qi;activating spleen, regulating stomach and tranquilization;strengthening body resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors.
