Objective: To observe the community-based intervention effect ofcomprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation on patients with Chronicobstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Method:50patients(31male and19female)with Stable COPD were randomlyand equally divided into experimental group and control group. Theexperimental group were treated with comprehensive pulmonaryrehabilitation including exercise therapy (traditional Chinese medicaltraining) and health education(lectures and group discussion). Theresearch lasts ten months. pulmonary function,6-minute walk distance(6MWD), the borg scale, the St. George Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS), and the BODE scale were assessed before and after the trial.Result: After ten months of comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation, the6-minute walk distance in experimental group increased from367±153.68to408.8±161.90; the borg scale in experimental group decreased from2.86±1.94to1.88±1.65; the St. George Respiratory Questionnaire inexperimental group increased from31.68±22.18to44.44±23.40; the SASscale increased from5.36±2.43to3.16±2.87and the SDS scale increasedfrom7.52±3.65to4.60±2.68;the BODE scale in the experimental groupdecreased from2.96±1.30to1.56±1.26. They were significant higherthan that of their baseline evaluation. Except for the results of decreasedyspnea, the exercise tolerance, the quality of life, psychologicalrehabilitation and the BODE scale showed us some favorable treatingeffects compared to the control group. Conclusion: Making up a community-based intervention effect ofcomprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation on patients with COPD is feasible. It can improve the exercise tolerance and decrease dyspnea in COPDpatients at stable stage. It also can relieve the anxiety and depression, hence improving the quality of life. It’s worth a promotion in clinicalapplication.
