Backgroud: Successful orthotopic neobladder can solve muscle invasive bladdercancer patients with urinary storage, voiding and urinary function. With thedevelopment of medical technology, the new bladder is getting closer and closer to thephysiological bladder function, the patient’s psychological, physiological and quality oflife will be improved. Urethral recurrence (UR) was found after radical cystectomy(RC), regardless what kind of urinary diversion, UR in situ and invasive carcinoma andmetastasis is one of the causes to death after operation. Objective: To explore risk factors of urethral tumor recurrence after orthotopicneobladder operation, outcome, and further treatment, to promote the progress oforthotopic neobladder operation. Methods: All literatures related to this issue were firstly collected. Finally, themost representative articles were chosen for quotation after carefully read and sorted.Results:①It seems that orthotopic neobladder operation (ONO) can reduce therate of patients with UR after RC.②Prostate and bladder neck involvement, tumormultifocality, and type of urinary diversion are significantly associated with URfollowing RC.③The majority of the literature advocated strict preoperative surgicalindications, strengthen the pathological preoperative, and tumor-free operation, toensure that the surgical margin is free of tumor invasion, thereby reducing therecurrence rate.④Literature also advocate before tumor resection, neoadjuvantchemotherapy beneficial to reduce the recurrence rate.⑤Cytology was recommendedto detect the UR after RC.⑥Patients with UR, often can get a better effect from aintraurethral bacillus Calmette-Guerin, urethrectomy, or gene therapy....
