Objective: To assess the consistency of manifestation of Barrett’s esophagus(BE)between the narrow-band imaging(NBI) endoscopy and with white light endoscopy, andexplore the clinical value of NBI in the diagnosis of BE.Methods: To record the image of BE under NBI endoscopy in73patients diagnosedor suspected BE,and compare the findings with white light endoscopy. Results: Comparing with white light endoscopy,NBI was more sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive value(PPV) for the diagnosis of BE(73.33%VS45.00%,69.23%VS53.85%,91.67%VS81.82%,respectively).There was significantly difference betweenthe NBI and white light endoscopy for visualization of squamo-columnar epithetlium. Conclusion: Comparing with white light endoscopy,NBI endoscopy not only improvethe diagnostic accuracy of Barrett esophagus, but also clearly demonstrate the visualizationof squamo-columnar epithetlium(60vs103,P﹤0.01).
