Objectiveto observe the elderly patients with depression different syndromes of their respective characteristics and the relationship between monoamine neurotransmitter and SP、β-EP. Then,to study the pathogenesis of Geriatric Depression and the inherent nature of TCM syndrome types.Methodsthe case control study method, a total of200elderly patients with depression observation, which inclund26cases of the empirical group-26patients in sydrome of liver-qi stagnation;74cases of the deficiency mixed group-26patients in Liver depression and Spleen,48patients in Liver stagnation and phlegm retention;100cases of the deficiency syndrome group-17patients in deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome,83patients in disharmony of heart and kidney.50normal elderly were compared and analyzed.Using SPSS17.0statistical software for analysis, observed the differences in each group of5-HT、NE、DA、SP and β-EP.the relationship between5-HT、NE、DA and SP and β-EP, and the relationship between different syndromes and sexes, ages and course of disease.Results(1) The proportion of men and women is1:3.26in elderly patients with depression, women were significantly higher than men;(2)Different stage of TCM syndrome in elderly patients with depression age stratification have difference(P<0.01), sthenic syndrome stage patients age more concentrated in the60-74years old, deficiency syndrome stage patients age more concentrated in the75-85years old;(3)Different stage elderly patients with depression syndrome with course of disease have difference(P<0.05), sthenic syndrome stage of depression is the shortest, for an average of(1.93±0.76)years, followed by mingled with excess and deficiency syndromes stage patients, with average course for (2.42±0.87)years, deficiency syndrome patients with stage of the longest, for an average of(4.15±1.13)years:(4)The NE in patient group is slightly lower than the normal control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). The5-HT and DA in patient group reduced compared with the normal control group (P<0.01, P<0.05);(5) The SP in patient group is higher than the normal control group (P<0.01). The β-EP in patient group is slightly higher than the normal control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05);(6)Different stage of TCM syndrome in elderly patients with depression have different monoamine neurotransmitter and SP、β-EP level;(7)The correlation between monoamine neurotransmitter and SP、β-EP:There was a negative correlation between NE and SP(P<0.05),and a positive correlation between5-HT and SP (P<0.01). No correlation was found between NE and β-EP、5-HT and β-EP、DA and SP、DA and β-EP.ConclusionThe elderly patients with depression overall monoamine neurotransmitter level is low;The SP in the elderly patients with depression is higher than the normal person but the β-EP increase is not obvious;Different stage of TCM syndrome in elderly patients with depression have different monoamine neurotransmitter and SP、β-EP level; monoamine neurotransmitters was related with SP and β-EP, mainly between SP and NE,5-HT.
