Bladder calculus and urethral calculus are common clinical diseases for pets. Solidprogress in methodology of diagnosis and treatment will provide invaluable reference forthese diseases. To summarize the measures of prevention of the recurrence of calculus willensure the efficiency of clinical treatment, thus improving the living quality for the pets. Byclinical examination, in combination of clinical symptoms, people can perform special andlaboratory examinations for diagnosis of bladder or urethral calculus. And also, people canchoose conservative treatment or surgery, as well as positive interventions to prevent theformation of calculus and the recurrence of bladder and urethral calculus, according to thephysical conditions and development stage of the canine.By analysis of103cases of diagnosis and treatment of canine bladder or urethralcalculus, we can come to a conclusion of methods of diagnosis and treatment of bladder andurethral calculus. People can make a judgment of calculus through preliminary diagnosis byclinical examinations, such as regular doctor visit, palpation and urethral probing. To make aprecise diagnosis, we need further evidences from ordinary X-ray examinations, X-rayimaging and type B ultrasonic inspection, as well as urinalysis test. And according to theresults from the routine blood test, serum biochemical test, blood ion test, and blood gasanalysis, people can make a judgment of the whole physiological conditions for guidance offurther treatment. Based on the physical condition of the dog and the development of thedisease, we can take on conservative treatments like medical expulsive treatment, urinary tractinflammation, dietotherapy, external row of stone and supportive therapy. For the individualswith difficulty in urination, people can perform surgeries such as cystotomy and urethrotomy. If these surgeries do not work, or the bladder calculus or the urethral calculus recur, clinicianmay carry out urethrostomy on sites such as penile stump, anterior scrota, scrota, perineum, prepubis, postpubis, to solve the problem of urination. As with the cystorrhexis caused bydysfunction of urination generated from bladder calculus and urethral calculus, it is necessaryto carry out the bladder repair. Clinicians should take good care of the dogs that have justundergone a surgery in order to protect the wound and ensure the micturition. Thepostoperative care is crucial for the surgery and the treatment effect. The canine bladder calculus and urethral calculus relapse easily, so it is more important in prevent. It shouldanalyses every specific pathogenic factor for each case to take correlative measures to avoidthe disease and practice reasonable feeding administration as well as regular examination. Inaddition, it is necessary to pay close attention to the micturition circumstance and treatment isessential if anything is abnormal. Early diagnosis facilitates the treatment and has limiteddamage to animals. Micro-invasive treatment with limited damage to animal can simplify thetreatment progress and obtain a better effect. The micro-invasive treatment will grow rapidlyas the improvement in the technique of diagnosis and therapy as well as in the equipment andthe public sense. Thus it ensures the progress in the life quality for pets. The canine bladder calculus and urethral calculus are often caused by the masters’unreasonable feeding administration. In general, compared with conservative treatment, surgery has more precise efficiency but easily relapse. Therefore it’s better to exclude thepathogenic factor and avoid the recurrence of calculus as much as possible. In addition, regular examination is recommended. The early diagnosis in this disease is important.
