The study on the temperature and photoperiod responses of cytoplasmic nuclear malesterile rice Tianfeng A, Yifeng A and Zhong9A were carried out under artificialtemperature control and natural condition, by using Thermo-sensitive genic male sterileline rice HD9802S as CK. On the other hand, Determination and comparative analysis ofthe physiological and biochemical indexes of cytoplasmic nuclear male sterile riceTianfeng A, Yifeng A and Zhong9A were conducted. The main results showed as below:(1)Normal pollens and self-seed setting appeared in TianfengAand YifengAunderhigh temperature condition, and the daily mean temperature played the most role in fertilitychange followed by light temperature among all kinds of temperature factors. The criticaltemperature of the fertility alteration of Tianfeng A and Yifeng A was25.5℃,and26.0℃,respectively. The thermo-sensitive phase of the fertility alteration in Tianfeng A and YifengA occurred from final phase of pistil and stamen primordia formation to pollen mother cellmeiotic phase, and final phase of pistil and stamen primordia formation to pollen mothercell formation, respectively, namely18-12days and18-15days before heading.(2)Both under the high and low temperature conditions, the pollen fertility of malesterile rice Zhong9A showed100%sterility. When the daily mean temperature was higherthan23℃, Thermo-sensitive genic male sterile line rice HD9802S showed completesterility, Otherwise it showed fertility restoration.(3)Contents of soluble protein, proline content and POD activity in function leavesof cytoplasmic nuclear male sterile rice Tianfeng A and Yifeng A under the hightemperature were slightly higher than that of under the low temperature, and the changetrend of them were quite opposite to that of under the low temperature. There were notsignificant differences in these physiological indexes of Zhong9A both under the high andlow temperature conditions. These results showed that there were some changes onvegetative growth in Tianfeng A and Yifeng A after their fertility restoration.(4) The POD activities of spike of Tianfeng A and YifengAincreased significantlyin pollen mother cell formation, and the changing trend of them are different from thatwhich under the low temperature condition. The changing trend of POD activity of spike ofZhong9A increased under the high temperature was the same as low temperature condition.(5)High temperature affected the expression of POD isozymes of function leaves ofeach of cytoplasmic nuclear male sterile rice, but there were not significant differencebetween fertility and sterile periods. While the expression of POD isozymes of spike ofTianfeng A and Yifeng A increased in a specific period of young spike development aftertheir fertility restoration.
