The urban water shortage has become a global issue which has aroused increasinglyheightened attention all over the world and has become one of the barriers to the developmentof economy and the society. As a basic natural resource, water plays a dominant role inecological environment. It’s also a strategically economic resource that has been the organicpart of the comprehensive power of a country. Hence whether the issue can be effectivelyhandled is the key to realizing sustainable development of a city.Since the opening and up, most of the cities has focused on the speed of economicdevelopment, but ignored the protection of ecological and natural resources, causing waterpollution, shortage of water etc.The thesis is aimed at analyzing the issue of urban water shortage in China from theperspective of deep ecology and presenting the contributing factors and the solutions andsuggesting the far-reaching consequences of effective tackling to sustainable development inurban areas. |
