Because general structure has a lower transmitting torque density, the new structure of high torque permanent magnetic transmission has become a hot issue of the current study. In this paper, a research for the high torque permanent magnetic transmission of axial discal structure has been conveyed, including the analysis of the permanent magnetic transmission work principle, the influences that structural parameters have on torque, transmission starting dynamic characteristics, torque fluctuation and so on. A permanent magnet three-dimensional model of the transmission is established using the FEM and the work principle of the permanent magnetic transmission is verified. In the field of mechanical transmission, although traditional devices such as the traditional gears, belts, worms and worm wheels have the advantage of great transmitting, there are still many unconquerable shortages, such as big noise and vibration, easy to wear and leak. In the contrast, new magnetic variable speed device such as the magnetic gear is a non-contact torque transfer structure, and therefore it has the advantages of no vibration, lower noise and self-protection in the overload condition. In fields of high sealing requirements such as medical devices, aviation, food processing and so on, the magnetic gear has been practically applicated due to its characteristics of clean and free of leakage. As an important performance index, studies on dynamic characteristics of permanent magnet transmission are relatively scarce. This paper aims at the starting progress of the transmission and conducts a simulation on it through the establishment of the permanent magnet dynamic mathematical model of the transmission. Finally, an experimental prototype using the research results of the permanent magnet transmission is designed and made, showing that error exists mainly due to friction, iron loss and so on.
