According to National Bureau of Statistics of China, China’s total output of fish was about3.6million tons in2012. With the development of modern science technology and advanced production technology, aquatic product processing industry in China has gradually become a processing system, including canned fish meal, fish oil, frozen goods, surimi products, dry, products and health products. But for a long time, due to the level of deep processing capacity and comprehensive utilization, large amount of waste were produced during the aquatic products processing, except a few used in low values of feed, fertilizer, the majority were discarded directly, resulting in serious resources waste and environmental pollution. Because of the development of the production technology and processing level, total amount of by-product resources will further increase. So, take full use of by-product resources has become an important topic in the current development of aquatic products processing industry. The purpose of this study is to development and utilization of the fish scale waste. Fish scale was boiled in alkaline solution to remove the collagen. Then degummed fish scale adsorbent material was obtained. This article investigated the application of degummed fish scale in sewage treatment and drug delivery carrier.The main contents and results indicated as follows:1) The effect of heating time and concentration of NaOH solution on degumming were obvious, while the ratio of material to liquid didn’t. The content of protain of degummed fish scale is less than1.0%after alkali treatment. The prepared degummed fish scale was characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis and so on. The surface of fish scale changed from smooth to rough with holes after alkali treatment. Physical adsorption studies indicate that its specific area was11.7times larger than untreated fish scale.2) The adsorption capacity of degummed fish scale adsorbs carmine increased with the increasement of carmine concentration, decreased with the increasement of dosage. Result of different samples adsorb carmine is:degummed fish scale> activated carbon> calcined fish scale> untreated fish scale, degummed fish scale had the best adsorption effect for containing both hydroxyapatite and protein. The theoretical adsorption capacity of degummed fish scale adsorbs carmine was134.4mg/g. The adsorption process followed Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and it’s a spontaneous and exothermic process.3) The adsorption efficiency of degummed fish scale adsorbs Cd2+decreased with the increasement of Cd2+concentration and temperature, increased with the increasement of dosage. Appropriately increasing the solution pH is helpful to improve the adsorption effect. The adsorption efficiency of degummed fish scale adsorbs Cd2+was100%. The adsorption process followed Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-first-order kinetic model, and it’s a spontaneous and endothermic process.4) The adsorption capacity of degummed fish scale adsorbs5-Fu increased with the increasement of5-Fu concentration, increased first and then decreased with the increasement of temperature and pH, decreased with the increasement of dosage. The adsorption capacity of degummed fish scale loads5-fluorouracil was5.3mg/g. The adsorption process followed Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and it’s a spontaneous and endothermic process. It turned out to be that the loaded5-fluorouracil degummed fish scale had release capacity to a certain extent.
