This work mainly investigates the heavy metal pollution conditions in both Tonglingcity and Yingdong district of Fuyang city. The samples from soil, vegetable and water ofthese areas have been collected and determined to acquire the concentration of6differentheavy metals which includes Cr、Cd、As、Pb、Cu and Zn by ICP-MS method. The samplescollected from the soil near the XinQiao river of Tongling city has been measured andevaluated. We can better evaluate the pollution level by analyzing the heavy metal contentof both the plant soil and farm crops in Yingdong district. Statistical method has beenapplied to analyze and obtain the relationship between the concentration of heavy metal insoil and the concentration of heavy metal in crops. As a result, we can provide some helpfulreference to prevent heavy metal pollutions on crops. The results obtained came to thefollowing conclusions:1.The concentrations of heavy metals in Xinqiao stream soil exceed the soilbackground values in Tongling except the concentration of Cr, the degree of pollutionfollows this order: Cd>Cu>As>Zn. Heavy metal contaminations are mainly from Cdand Cu.2. Correlation analysis indicates that there are highly positive correlation between Cdand As、Pb、Zn, Pb and Zn. The correlation between Cu and Cd、Cu and As、Cu and Pb,Cu and Zn are also positive correlation. The main reason of soil heavy metal pollution ishuman activities, such as mining in Fenghuangshan Cooper Mine and Xinqiao Pyrite Mine.It indicates that mining is the cause that the soil undergoes heavy metal pollution near theXinQiao River in Tongling city.3. The heavy metal pollution index of Yingdong farmland soil is less than1. Thecomprehensive pollution index of Y village and X village is both less than0.7, whichindicated that pollution degree is safe and pollution level was still clean. However, the soilnear the farm is in alert level. The soil in the study area in the mass is not contaminated, andit is suitable for the cultivation of vegetables.4. The enrichment ratio of heavy metal is different because of different species ofplants. Different vegetables have different bioaccumulation abilities of the same heavymetal. On the contrary, tah tsai and spinach have high bioaccumulation abilities of thecadmium. Chromium concentration in all kinds of vegetables has exceeded the standardlevel. The content of As、Cu and Zn was still lower than hygienic standard of vegetables. From comprehensive pollution index of vegetable, we can conclude that the heavy metalcontamination level of vegetable is in order of: onion> Spinach> radish> Chinese cabbage>garlic> cabbage> tah tsai> vegetables.5.Heavy metals between soil and vegetables were correlated with each other using Pearson correlative analysis, Target Hazard Quotient(THQ)has been applied to evaluatethe health risk of local resident in Yingdong district. The result shows that accumulatedTHQ is still less than1,which indicates that Yingdong’s vegetables are not harmful to localpopulation.
