In the21st century, the greatest challenge facing enterprises is in the formulation of future strategy. Enterprises must have a mission statement, then to develop strategies, and then change the structure. It is said that structure should follow the strategy, and the strategy should follow the mission.In business strategy, product strategy is the core of planning. An effective product strategy can motivate people to develop successful products, on the contrary, even the best of R&D efforts will be inefficient due to the product strategy and go down the drain. The product strategies are the beginnings for product research and influence the product development in many important aspects, whether they are outstanding product strategies or inefficient ones.Therefore, to develop the right product strategy and product planning is clearly the primary process and the most important aspect of product innovation. Prior to product development determining the right direction and positioning and make forward-looking and effective product planning to ensure developing the right product at the right time is the capacity of the key that the enterprise level, product managers need to upgrade.The dissertation theoretically expatiates the relationship of product strategy, adopts systemic strategy managing theory and mainly exerts the way of PEST, SWOT and so on to give an analysis on the internal and external situation of Baosteel Machinery Plant, finally draw a conclusion that Baosteel Machinery Plant should adopt the strategy of develop pattern since lots of developing opportunities outside the enterprise versus inside strong advantages. Based on the point, it foresees situation of market in the ambient as well as the market. According to the fundamental of strategic elimination, the strategy of product and the model of it are established. Then it sets forth the implement. The highlight of the dissertation is to propose a product strategy should be used as the main function of business strategy, enterprises should establish and timely adjustment of product strategy, adapt to market demand, and seek the sustainable development of enterprises.
