With the rapid development of computer network and digital video technology, people’s demand for the quality of video surveillance becomes higher and higher. DVS increasingly becomes the main solution of digital video surveillance system characterized by its high-quality video service. Fully taking into consideration of TMS320DM365processor’s capabilities of multimedia processing and MontaVista Linux embedded real-time operating system’s flexibility for supporting hardware drivers, a new embedded DVS system based on DaVinci comes into being.The new DVS system completes great functions including the capture and encoding of video and the monitoring and video processing of encoded stream. Armed with this new DVS system, it becomes much easier to deploy and any scene can be saved when unexpected events occur, for later investigation and evidence collection. This paper mainly completes the DVS system’s overall design and each key module’s implementation. First comes with analysis of existing embedded DVS system framework, a modular design that can satisfy requirements is put forward. Secondly, in allusion to video capture and encoding, this paper accomplishes real-time acquisition of four-channel CIF video, Chinese subtitle OSD and H.264encoding. Lastly, in allusion to video encoded stream processing, this paper designs and completes four-channel encoded stream memory management and optimized storage solutions based on disk pre-allocation technology and then respectively accomplishes four-channel video’s monitoring stream and video stream processing. According to the scheme of video storage, this paper also proposes playback scheme based on named pipe, thus guaranteeing random playback with multi-users and flexible control functions.According to the system testing results, four-channel CIF video can provide both clear captured picture and unambiguous subtitle, as well as low video bit rate less than100kb/s for each channel. What’s more, playback for multi-user in the meantime is feasible. In a conclusion, with reliable functions and stable performance, the new system can be fully applied into actual video surveillance environment. Therefore, the implementation of embedded DVS system has important practical application value.
