An mobile ad hoc network is an self-organized and infrastructure-less network. Mobile nodes establish multi-hop network structure through the wireless channel. It uses wireless communication technology. Each node acts as a router in ad hoc networks and nodes realize the communication between each other through nodes forwarding. In recent years, mobile ad hoc networks have penetrated into our daily lives rely on its characteristics of easy to use and bring great convenience to our lives. Smartphones have firmly hold seats in the mainstream of mobile phone market. In this age, smartphone is not only has the call function, but also has most functions of PDA, especially the personal information management and office functions based on the wireless data communication. Appling mobile ad hoc networks to mobile phones are the trend.This paper analyses all kinds of routing protocols of ad hoc networks and makes a improvement on AODV(Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector) routing protocol. AODV is based on traditional distance vector. It consumes low memory and other resources. The network topology established by AODV has a lot of advantages when the network load is light, such as large network throughput, but local network congestion will emerge along with the network load increases, which will bring about packet loss and network throughput dropping dramatically. This paper puts forward a solution to prolong the network lifetime-LAODV on the basis of the existing improvement. LAODV intends to establish stable and balanced routings to avoid excessive consumption of a node by taking node load, remaining energy and moving speed into account. In this paper, ns-2is used to test the performance of LAODV protocol and AODV protocol. The result of simulation shows that LAODV routing protocol can prolong ad hoc network lifetime.This paper also makes a detailed design and implementation about LAODV based on the Android system. This system has four modules:data sender and receiver module, routing table maintenance module, user API module, ad hoc management module. Unit testing and functional testing have shown that this system realized LAODV based on Android system completely.At last, the paper summarized the work being done in the study and gave an outlook of the work in the future.
