With the rapid development of China’s economic, the amount of automobiles are increasing dramatically, At the same time, more and more industries want to have the real-time information about its vehicles to monitor and schedule.This paper designs a vehicle monitoring system which could meet the companies’s demand for vehicle monitoring. This system bases on WebGIS/GPRS, B/S framework, J2EE platform technology. SQL Server2005is used to design the database of the system. The monitoring system uses GPS technology to position the vehicle, adopts GPRS technology for wireless communication, and uses MapXtreme Java as the WebGIS platform, and all above things are implemented in the Windows operating system. The system could provide customers with Internet-based vehicle monitoring services, by which users could position vehicle, query the status, analysis the data and even control their cars. It could be effective in improving the status of vehicle monitoring and management.According to the anticipant function, this paper has designed and implemented the vehicle terminal and the monitoring center of the system. All these things could be divided into the following five aspects:First, design the structure of the system and analysis the functional requirements of the vehicle terminal and the monitoring center; Second, according to the anticipant function of the vehicle terminal, select PIC24FJ256GB106as the main chip and design the circuit schematic including the positioning and communication module SIM908, the power module, alarm module and other kinds of circuits; Third, design the part of monitoring center, this paper introduces the development environment of the system, and achieves the main function of the map module, and improves the real-time performance by optimizing the method of map access, and the database is designed and coupled with the database connection pool; Fourth, according to the communication protocol, design the communication module between the monitoring center and the vehicle-mounted terminal; Finally, the completed circuit board has been made and debugged, the whole circuit works well and a simulation test has been done to database, a joint test has been done between the vehicle terminal and the monitoring center, preliminary the car experiment on the target vehicle acquires monitoring capabilities and achieves the desired effect.
