Museums play an increasingly important role in the cultural and spiritual life of people in contemporary society. As attendance numbers and museum staff numbers have grown rapidly since the introduction of free admission to the museum, so have the demands for higher standards within the museum. The human resources of a museum are a core strength which can forward a museum’s development and thereby further develop the cultural richness of a society. In order to optimize a museum staff’s resources and further develop China’s museums, more attention could be paid to researching museum human resources. In the above context, this essay introduces and analyses the human resource work allocation during different periods of the Palace Museum’s history, which can also be seen as microcosm of the human resource development history in China. Based on an analysis of this history, the essay identifies major problems and their causes in the human resource work allocation within China’s museums. The author prescribes specific guidelines for greater optimization of China’s museums’human resources and to efficiently solve the problems of the human resource work allocation in China’s museums.
