Ad hoc network is a self-organizing network without a central. Ad hoc networks do not rely on pre-mounted infrastructure, relying on cooperation between nodes to complete the communication between nodes. Its role in military applications is especially important. Also in the floods, earthquake diseater rescue work, also have an irreplaceable role. Ad hoc network as dynamic topology structure, the traditional routing protocols can not meet the performance of work under this environment. In such a dynamic network topology, the routing protocol as a major subject subject of research. Ad hoc network of limited bandwidth, node energy is limited, so in Ad hoc networks mainly demand-driven routing. This article summarizes the characteristics of Ad hoc networks and structures, introduced the three routing protocols, table driven routing protocols, on-demand driven routing protocols and hybrid routing protocols, and compared the performance of these types of network protocols. This article focuses on the AODV routing protocols, AODV routing protocols are optimized, mainly from the directed broadcast, cross-layer and Local repair optimization of these aspects. OPNET network simulation software and used the traditional and the optimized simulation of AODV routing protocol, through the analysis of simulation data show that the improved AODV routing protocol than the traditional advantages of greater.Setting the scene simulation model and a direct impact on simulation results. Simulation environment is the rationality of Ad hoc networks is a very important research direction. Internet routing technology must be one of the key heterogeneous. Ad hoc network interconnection with other networks, are bound to become a trend.End of the article summarizes the contents of this article, and future research were discussed.
