Cloud Manufacturing is a kind of new service-oriented pattern and technology, which isextended from Cloud Computing and Networked Manufacturing, ASP Platform, GridManufacturing of modern manufacturing informatization. Right now, Cloud Manufacturing’srelevant theory and research is still on the primary stage, and the standard and specification ofresource virtualization, key technology of constructing Cloud Manufacturing service platform,service specification of platform and the workflow is still in the process of researching anddeveloping.On the basis of Cloud Manufacturing’s coming from and extending from CloudComputing, this paper first points out the concept, architecture and programming model of theCloud Computing. Researching on the basic concept of Cloud Manufacturing, the paperfigures out the4-level architecture of Cloud Manufacturing. It includes ManufacturingResource Layer, Virtual Service Layer, Global Service Layer and Application Layer. Then theconcept of Cloud Manufacturing Service Platform for Small and Medium Enterprises isintroduced in this paper.Cloud Manufacturing Service Platform is extended from the concept of CloudManufacturing and is a practical application which is based on the situation of the small andmedium enterprises in our country. In the platform, the encapsulating of resources is morenormal and united and the sharing of resources is more agile, which can offer all-round, agile,quick, reliable, on-demand services. It is the architecture of Cloud Manufacturing ServicePlatform that includes Basic Support Layer, Platform Running Environment Layer,Manufacturing Resource Layer, Cloud Manufacturing Service Layer, Trade Layer and UserApplication Layer. Basic Support Layer refers to the infrastructure of the service platform,such as distributed cluster, distributed database and network. Platform Running EnvironmentLayer refers to the registration and login of the members, publication and combination of theservices, publication and matching of the demands, input and output of the services and theestablishment of service library and demand library. Cloud Manufacturing Service Layerrefers to hardware and software resources and the virtualization of resources. Trade Layerrefers to transaction process regulated by the service platform and logging and managingduring the whole transaction process. User Application Layer refers to the interface betweenthe platform and the user and the display of relevant resource attributions and output.Meanwhile the paper offers resource description and virtualization method based on thetemplate. Resource in the Cloud Manufacturing includes manufacturing resources and manufacturing abilities, and manufacturing resources can be divided into two kinds: hardwareresources and software resources. To be specific to the situation that there are too manydifferent kinds and structures of resources in the process of manufacturing, the commonattributes, input and output is abstracted from different kinds of resources forming resourcedescription and encapsulating templates. In the templates, description template is used fordescripting the basic attributes of the service, and the encapsulating template is used fordescripting the name, type and format of the input and output of the resources. In this way, itsimplifies the process of resources virtualization and is compatible with Web Service.At last the paper gives the overall design thoughts of the Cloud Manufacturing ServicePlatform. The service platform is divided into six function modules. These modules includeUser’s Information Management, Service Publication, Demand Publication, Service Input andOutput and Back-stage Management. Furthermore the paper introduces the implementationprocess and business logic process of every module. In order to verify the correctness ofplatform architecture and key technologies, Cloud Manufacturing Service Platform for theSmall and Medium Enterprises is preliminarily developed and the screenshots of the platformis given in the paper.
