Nowadays, a large number of media community-oriented are emerging and developing. These situations show that the communities will become increasingly attractive to media for their focus and gather. The overseas development of the300years of community newspapers must have their own rules and principles. There must be many different modes and experiences in the development of the community newspapers in Mainland Chinese cities, too.This study selects the United States and Canada as a frame of reference, to seek available regular principles and international innovative development by the macro-comparison of different modes of the community newspapers in different countries. The same time, chooses Shanghai, a higher degree of urbanization and community development, to compare experiences among different newspapers or forums of community, and summarizing the successful experiences of other community-oriented media. Then we can verify the applicability and Potential for development of the existing urban community newspapers of the mainland of China.This study will analysis practices with problem-oriented, then explores the contradictions encountered, the relationship structure lived, the founder of positioning and the ways for realizing about the community newspapers in China mainland city.
