Against the background of economic globalization, competitive intelligencebecomes the fourth element affected enterprises’ core competitiveness, except fortechnology, capital and talent. Nowadays, most of the Fortune500companies havetheir own competitive intelligence system. The rate of competitive intelligencecontribution on corporate profits is as high as17%.In China’s auto parts industry, low-tech products have a serious excess capacityproblem, and high-technology products are in short supply. The industry is inlarge-scale industrial restructuring. Relying on production scale expanding to enhanceenterprise’ strength is no longer viable. Technological innovation is the way out.When Jilin General Machinery Co., Ltd. was established, it sets up science andtechnology strategies. It keeps on tracking the leading edge technology on auto partsfiled, and adheres to technological innovation and product innovation. From2011to2012, it has acquired Germany Kaiser aluminum Co., Ltd. and Germany Hong Zeerlimited liability Company with all their patents and technology. It makes the companya leader on aluminum forging and aluminum casting filed in China. But aluminumforging and aluminum casting is completely a new field, it take the staff some time totake in. With the competitive intelligence system,decision-makers can remainsensitive to the changes of environment, market, competitors and technology, and leadthe company move on in the right direction. It is very suitable for Jilin GeneralMachinery Co., Ltd. with science and technology as a strategy.Firstly, this article explains the background and significance of the paper, withoverviews of Competitive Intelligence System. It makes a brief introduction to thecontents of the thesis, research methods and innovation. Secondly, it introduces some basic theories of competitive intelligence. Thirdly, it makes a brief introduction ofJilin GM, including company overviews, organizational structure, products andpersonnel structure. Fourthly, it analyzes the status of the competitive intelligencesystem of Jilin General Machinery Company with the application status of itsinformation resources, current competitive intelligence system operational mode andexisting problems. Fifthly, it claims the principles of competitive intelligence systemof Jilin General Machinery Company. It also introduces its functions and structure. Itdescribes the system building process with details. And it verifies the feasibility of thesystem with details of a competitive intelligence analysis project of automotivealuminum forging products. Last but not the least, it proposes some safeguardsmechanism. This paper successfully constructs a competitive intelligence system ofJilin General Machinery based on the competitive intelligence theories, which is agreat example of the idea of idea guiding practice and practice correcting theory. Italso provides a reference for the construction of China’s auto parts enterprisescompetitive intelligence system.
