Optical transfer function gradually replaced the delectability and asterisk test due to its objective, accurate, and quantitative analysis while evaluating the quality of optical system imagines. With the rapid development of the computer and digital image processing technology, the calculation and measurement of the optical transfer function is maturing. The image processing module in this MTF test system based on point light source that we research is an important part in the test system. The image processing module is able to control the stepper motor for the automatic focusing of the system and process the image signal by computer, accurate detect the MTF value of the measured lens. In this paper, our research on image processing module is mainly in the following aspects.Firstly, we learned the developing process of MTF, as well as the applications of image processing technology in the detection of it. Find out the image processing method of the advanced MTF test system through domestic and foreign research technology. We determined the direction of this paper’s main work after a brief description of the background and the significance of this research.The theoretical basis of the modulation transfer function test by selecting pinhole test as a target method is discussed. Briefly describe the principle of using image processing method for detecting. Meanwhile, based on the principle of measurement method of the digital Fourier analysis, we used a FFT instead of normal DFT. A brief introduction to the process of the fast Fourier transform is given.Choose the appropriate device, complete the image processing module structure, and finish image processing through software programming. Outline the process of image processing and consider of various factors of image processing, so as reducing the impact of noise in the processing. Through a series of accuracy and stability tests of the lens samples, analyze the cause of errors and propose solutions.Finally, we conclude the paper works by listing innovations in our research and pointing out improvement places.
