HVDC is by the attention of the power engineering sector because of its unique advantages in the long-distance and large capacity transmission subject, but with the introduction of the inverter in the system generated a lot of harmonics. The passive filter can effectively solve the harmonic pollution caused by the inverter of the HVDC transmission system, and can provide the required reactive power, so a variety of DC transmission system with passive filter has broad application prospects.The harmonic current and voltage characteristics on both sides of HVDC and passive filter design problems were studied in this paper, the main tasks are as follows:1. The AC side harmonic current of the HVDC transmission system, the DC side harmonic voltage characteristics and filter design principles were studied.2. Single-tuned and the double-tuned filter parameter to the AC side were were analyzed. On this base, we study the three-tuned filter design method and the design principles of the DC side of the passive filter, the double-tuned filter parameters design method were studied and the computer simulation have been validated.3. Design simulation of HVDC circuit and double-tuned as well asthree-tuned filter to meet the system requirements. The feasibility of the proposed design method of computer simulation by PSCAD was verified. The results showed that the design of the filter has good filtering effect, verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the filter design methods mentioned herein.4. In this paper, the filter is used in the actual converter station and the actual operation to show that it has a good effect.
