As the Internet continues to expand the scope of application and high performance computing, cloud computing, rapid application, made on high-performance network storage, scalability, adaptability, manageability, reliability, and other new requirements.In this paper, we study the network storage and virtualization technology relevant theoretical knowledge.A virtual storage subsystem ⅣStor has been design and implementation based on the actual needs of the Internet Information Processing System. IP-SAN is the most effective method of the storage consolidation and centralized management of data, it has the over IP, block based storage, storage separated from applications, and many other advantages.The ⅣStor is a master slave architecture cluster composed by a number of general-purpose PC server. It includes a centralized control node and a number of data nodes, each node connected by Gigabit switching network, centralized control node is responsible for system metadata and data management, data nodes provide block-level data storage in parallel. The local file system of data nodes has been directly used by the ⅣStor to storage file in block form.With different of the traditional network storage systems, in the ⅣStor, the as large as possible block has been used to improve the abililty to I/O throughout of network and the local file system. In addition, with reducing of deployment costs, the IVStor has the better parallel processing performence, the better scale out ability and higher capability of virtualization.The results show that, the ⅣStor meets the Internet Information Processing System performance requirements for storage, it achieves the objectives of processing performance, stability, and scalability. The ⅣStor has been applied in practical projects.
