Wireless sensor network(WSN) as a type of Ad Hoc network, at present it has been widely used in defense, the environment, health care, weather, industry, aviation, etc. A sensor network includes many sensor nodes/sink nodes and management nodes. This nodes are a kind of available equipment of low cost and low power consumption. A large number of sensor nodes make the network in the monitoring region by self-organizing way.The greatest characteristic of WSN is that the power is limited. So in order to guarantee that the network can work for a long time, save energy is the key problem in the application of WSN.WSN has the characteristics of self-organizing, robustness and concealment,so the sensor network is very suitable for moving target tracking. In the target tracking,the requirement of real-time to data make that the link must have high communication quality. WSN itself has the poor reliability, unstable link quality, so we must adopt an improved link quality mechanism to improve the performance of the network effectively.This paper proposes a method of improving the link quality between nodes. The key technologies which target tracking involves mainly include:the organization of sensor nodes and routing, targets detection and clustering algorithm, the localization algorithm, target trace estimation and prediction algorithm.At present the research in target tracking mainly focus on clustering algorithm, the localization algorithm, target trace estimation and prediction algorithm. This paper puts forward a communication mechanism in the dynamic clusters based on link quality in WSN target tracking.In many papers, the idealized binary perfect-reception-within-range model is used in common network simulations. But many studies have revealed the existence of three distinct reception regions in a wireless link:connected, transitional, and disconnected. So, we propose a communication mechanism in the dynamic clusters based on link quality in WSN target tracking. A voting approach is developed for the cluster head selection by taking the LQI into consideration in the paper. When the cluster members communicate with cluster head, we adopt multi-hop reliable communication way.The simulation results show that the energy is saved,the link quality and the delay have been improved significantly.
