Digital Image Processing can be mentioned as computer image processing. It refers to a process within which image signals are transformed into digital ones and computers will be applied to the process of transformation so as to generate images that should be received by human vision or receiving devices of other types. Mathematics serves as the base of digital image processing and its primary missions include algorithm design and realization of the algorithm. By utilization of computers, a multitude of image data can be processed.MATLAB has already gained its reputation as one of the most excellent mathematical application softwares with high competence for scientific calculation. The software assists image processing engineers and scientific researchers by offering a more visible and reliable development tool, which is named Image Processing Toolbox.The tool is developed according to characteristics of digital image processing and it establishes a visible digital image processing system with the assistance of graphic user interface of MATLAB. The system will help to visualize concepts that are not concrete and it will meet the needs of visible operation and visible final processing. For the system, characteristics of visual explanation and instance references are highlighted.In order to make a full play of digital image processing in classroom teaching and experimental learning, the dissertation proposes design procedures of software platform that will benefit classroom teaching and experimental learning. Furthermore, the dissertation introduces a variety of functions which include selection of development tools, software framework, opening of image files, processing and displaying and so on. It has been practically found that the platform can effectively enhance teaching quality and improve students’ capacity for software programming and their ability of practice. Through this method, the goal of combining theory with practice in teaching will be achieved.
