With the development of computer science technology and its influence to the areaof healthcare. Medical imaging technology has become an essential part in modernmedical science because of its efficient, economic and non-invasive. However,inequalities of outside luminance data, spatial resolution and thickness parameter of CTmachine, movement of human beings’ tissue and organ are the main factors whichcaused the medical images affected by noise pollution, losing slight details and blurringthe outline of pathologic tissue. These problems cause the negative impact on theaccuracy of the diagnosis and treatment for disease.This paper used the Image Processing Toolbox of Matlab to process the CT imageof a patient’s lung; the main operations include image enhancement, image filtering,edge detection, image segmentation and morphology processing. The results proved thatthe processed CT image increased visibility level of the subtle structure compared to theunprocessed CT image and improved the image quality effectively, which is convenientfor medical workers to extract more valuable information about the CT image, but forthe non-professional programming medical workers this is obviously not the optimalway to process the medical image.In order to make up the limitations of those methods above, improve the medicalimage quality using an easy and quick way, a graphical user interface (GUI) system formedical digital image processing based on MATLAB has been developed for medicalimage processing. This image processing system allows the MATLAB automaticallyrealized X-ray medical image processing without writing a program. The main modulesinclude histogram modification, edge detection, smoothing filtering and thresholdsegmentation.The experimental results showed that digital image processing technology based onthe image processing toolbox and GUI design had a distinguished effect on the CTimage quality improvement. The medical image processing has a contribution to provide comprehensive information about the human tissue and organ, which is beneficial to theconfirmation of the pathological information and location of focus, raising the accuracydegree of the symptom diagnosis. Meanwhile, the image processing system based onMATLAB GUI provide the medical workers a chance to do research in demand, whichhas an vital practical significance for the study of two-dimensional medical imageprocessing.
